- Canned sardines in olive oil - 1 can (about 120g)
- Lime juice - 3 tablespoons
- Red onion - 1/4, finely chopped
- Tomato - 1 medium, diced
- Cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Avocado - 1 small, diced
- Cucumber - 1/2, diced
- Jalapeño - 1 teaspoon, finely chopped (optional)
- Salt - to taste
- Black pepper - to taste
- Tortilla chips - for serving
Steps
- Open the can of sardines and drain the oil. Place the sardines in a mixing bowl and gently break them into bite-sized pieces.
- Add the lime juice to the sardines and let them marinate for about 5 minutes to enhance the flavor.
- In the same bowl, add the chopped red onion, diced tomato, chopped cilantro, diced avocado, diced cucumber, and finely chopped jalapeño (if using).
- Season the mixture with salt and black pepper to taste. Gently toss to combine all the ingredients without mashing the avocado.
