Ingredients

  • Fresh clams - 250 grams
  • Lime juice - 60 ml
  • Red onion - 50 grams, finely chopped
  • Tomato - 1 medium, diced
  • Cilantro - 15 grams, chopped
  • Jalapeño pepper - 1 small, finely chopped
  • Cucumber - 50 grams, diced
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste

Steps

  1. Thoroughly clean the fresh clams under cold running water to remove any sand or debris.
  2. In a bowl, combine the cleaned clams and lime juice. Cover and refrigerate for about 10 minutes to allow the clams to marinate and open up.
  3. After marinating, remove the clams from the lime juice and finely chop them, discarding any that did not open.
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine the chopped clams with red onion, tomato, cilantro, jalapeño, cucumber, olive oil, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to ensure all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  5. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary, then let the ceviche rest for an additional 5 minutes to meld the flavors.
  6. Serve chilled in a dish, garnished with extra cilantro if desired.
