Ingredients

  • Rolled oats - 100 grams
  • Water - 400 milliliters
  • Milk (dairy or plant-based) - 200 milliliters
  • Cinnamon stick - 1
  • Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon
  • Brown sugar - 2 tablespoons
  • Banana - 1, sliced
  • Almonds (or any nuts) - 30 grams, chopped
  • Fresh berries (strawberries, blueberries, etc.) - 100 grams

Steps

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the rolled oats, water, cinnamon stick, and a pinch of salt.
  2. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. Add the milk and vanilla extract to the saucepan, and continue to cook for another 3-5 minutes until the oats are creamy and tender.
  4. Remove the cinnamon stick and stir in the brown sugar until dissolved.
  5. Divide the oatmeal into two bowls, and top each with sliced banana, chopped almonds, and fresh berries.
