Ingredients

  • Ground beef (halal) - 250 grams
  • Cemita rolls - 2 pieces
  • Oaxacan cheese (or mozzarella) - 100 grams, shredded
  • Avocado - 1 medium, sliced
  • Lettuce - 1 cup, shredded
  • Tomato - 1 medium, sliced
  • Red onion - 1 small, thinly sliced
  • Chipotle in adobo sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Mayonnaise - 2 tablespoons
  • Cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Lime - 1, juiced
  • Salt - to taste
  • Pepper - to taste
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon

Steps

  1. In a bowl, combine the ground beef with salt, pepper, and half of the lime juice. Form into two patties.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired doneness.
  3. While the patties are cooking, mix the chipotle in adobo sauce with mayonnaise in a small bowl to create the chipotle mayo.
  4. Toast the cemita rolls lightly in the skillet after removing the patties.
  5. Assemble the burgers by spreading chipotle mayo on both halves of the toasted rolls.
  6. Layer the bottom half with shredded lettuce, a beef patty, sliced tomato, red onion, avocado, and top with shredded Oaxacan cheese.
  7. Sprinkle chopped cilantro over the cheese and drizzle with the remaining lime juice before placing the top half of the roll.
  8. Serve immediately with your favorite sides.
