Ingredients

  • Pork shoulder - 500 grams
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Ground cumin - 1 teaspoon
  • Oregano - 1 teaspoon
  • Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Onion - 1 medium, diced
  • Orange juice - 120 ml
  • Lime juice - 30 ml
  • Corn tortillas - 4 pieces
  • Fresh cilantro - 1/4 cup, chopped
  • Red onion - 1/4 cup, diced
  • Avocado - 1 medium, sliced
  • Salsa - 100 grams

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 150°C (300°F).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the salt, black pepper, cumin, oregano, and garlic powder. Rub this spice mixture all over the pork shoulder.
  3. Place the seasoned pork shoulder in a baking dish and add the diced onion, orange juice, and lime juice around it.
  4. Cover the dish tightly with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 2 hours or until the pork is fork-tender.
  5. Remove the pork from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before shredding it with two forks.
  6. In a dry skillet over medium heat, warm the corn tortillas for about 30 seconds on each side until pliable.
  7. Assemble the tacos by placing a generous portion of shredded pork on each tortilla, then top with chopped cilantro, diced red onion, avocado slices, and a spoonful of salsa.
