Ingredients

  • Water - 500 ml
  • Ground coffee - 40 g
  • Cinnamon stick - 1
  • Piloncillo (or brown sugar) - 50 g
  • Clove - 2 whole
  • Orange peel - from 1 orange
  • Vanilla extract - 1/2 teaspoon

Steps

  1. In a medium saucepan, bring 500 ml of water to a boil.
  2. Once boiling, add the ground coffee, cinnamon stick, cloves, and orange peel.
  3. Reduce heat to low and let it simmer for 5 minutes.
  4. Add the piloncillo (or brown sugar) and stir until dissolved.
  5. Remove from heat and let it steep for an additional 5 minutes.
  6. Strain the coffee mixture into cups and add a splash of vanilla extract to each.
  7. Serve hot and enjoy your authentic Café de Olla!
