- Cabbage leaves - 8 large leaves
- Ground beef - 250 grams
- Onion - 1 small, diced
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Canned diced tomatoes - 200 grams
- Taco seasoning - 1 tablespoon
- Cheddar cheese - 100 grams, shredded
- Monterey Jack cheese - 100 grams, shredded
- Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
- Salt - to taste
- Pepper - to taste
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add diced onion and minced garlic, sauté until translucent.
- Add ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spatula, and cook until browned.
- Stir in canned diced tomatoes and taco seasoning, and let simmer for about 10 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- While the meat mixture simmers, prepare the cabbage leaves by boiling them in salted water for about 3-4 minutes until softened, then drain and pat dry.
- In a baking dish, layer 2 cabbage leaves at the bottom. Spread half of the meat mixture over the leaves, followed by a layer of cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese.
- Repeat the layering process with the remaining cabbage leaves, meat mixture, and cheese, finishing with a layer of cheese on top.
- Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Allow to cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
