Ingredients

  • Chicken breast - 250 grams
  • Onion - 1 medium, sliced
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Chipotle in adobo sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Tomato sauce - 100 grams
  • Lime juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste
  • Burger buns - 2
  • Avocado - 1 small, sliced
  • Cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Mexican crema or sour cream - 2 tablespoons

Steps

  1. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat and sauté the sliced onion until translucent.
  2. Add minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
  3. Add the chicken breast to the skillet and cook for about 5 minutes on each side until browned.
  4. Shred the chicken in the skillet using two forks and add chipotle in adobo sauce and tomato sauce.
  5. Stir well and let it simmer for about 10 minutes, adding lime juice, salt, and pepper to taste.
  6. While the chicken is simmering, toast the burger buns in a separate pan or under the broiler until golden.
  7. Assemble the burgers by placing a generous portion of the chicken tinga on the bottom half of each bun.
  8. Top with avocado slices, chopped cilantro, and a dollop of Mexican crema or sour cream.
  9. Cover with the top half of the bun and serve immediately.
