- Ground beef (90% lean) - 300 grams
- Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
- Cumin - 1 teaspoon
- Chili powder - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Fresh cilantro (chopped) - 2 tablespoons
- Lime juice - 1 tablespoon
- Cheddar cheese (shredded) - 50 grams
- Whole wheat burger buns - 2
- Lettuce leaves - 2
- Tomato (sliced) - 1 medium
- Avocado (sliced) - 1/2
- Sour cream - 2 tablespoons
- Hot sauce - to taste
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, garlic powder, cumin, chili powder, salt, black pepper, chopped cilantro, and lime juice. Mix until just combined.
- Divide the meat mixture into two equal portions and shape each into a patty about 2 cm thick.
- Preheat a grill or a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 5-6 minutes on each side, or until they reach an internal temperature of 70°C (160°F). During the last minute of cooking, top each patty with shredded cheddar cheese and cover to melt.
- While the patties are cooking, toast the whole wheat burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.
- Assemble the burgers by placing a patty on each bun, then layer with lettuce, tomato slices, avocado, and a dollop of sour cream. Add hot sauce to taste.
