Ingredients

  • Lean ground turkey - 300 grams
  • Poblano peppers - 2 medium, roasted and sliced
  • Onion - 1 small, finely chopped
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Cilantro - 1/4 cup, chopped
  • Cumin - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Whole wheat burger buns - 2
  • Avocado - 1 medium, sliced
  • Fresh salsa - 1/2 cup

Steps

  1. Preheat a grill or skillet over medium heat.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, roasted poblano peppers, chopped onion, minced garlic, cilantro, cumin, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
  3. Form the mixture into two equal patties.
  4. Heat olive oil in the skillet or grill pan. Cook the patties for 6-7 minutes on each side or until fully cooked (internal temperature should reach 75°C).
  5. While the patties are cooking, toast the whole wheat burger buns on the grill or in a toaster.
  6. Once the patties are cooked, assemble the burgers by placing a patty on each bun, topping with sliced avocado and fresh salsa.
