Ingredients

  • White fish fillets (e.g., tilapia or cod) - 250 grams
  • Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Paprika - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Lime juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Fresh cilantro, chopped - 2 tablespoons
  • Bread crumbs - 50 grams
  • Egg - 1, beaten
  • Burger buns - 2
  • Lettuce leaves - 2
  • Tomato, sliced - 1
  • Avocado, sliced - 1/2
  • Mayonnaise - 2 tablespoons
  • Hot sauce (optional) - to taste

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the white fish fillets, garlic powder, cumin, paprika, lime juice, salt, black pepper, and chopped cilantro. Mix well until the fish is thoroughly coated with the spices.
  2. Add bread crumbs and the beaten egg to the fish mixture, mixing until well combined. Form the mixture into 2 equal patties.
  3. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add a drizzle of oil. Cook the fish patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  4. While the patties are cooking, prepare the burger buns by lightly toasting them in another skillet or in the oven.
  5. Assemble the burgers by placing a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each bun, followed by the cooked fish patty, tomato slices, avocado slices, and a dollop of mayonnaise. Add hot sauce if desired.
  6. Top with the other half of the bun and serve immediately.
