- garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- fresh cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- lime juice - 1 tablespoon
- cumin - 1/2 teaspoon
- paprika - 1/2 teaspoon
- salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- egg - 1, beaten
- breadcrumbs - 1/4 cup
- olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- burger buns - 2, preferably whole grain
- avocado - 1, mashed
- hot sauce - to taste
- lettuce - 2 leaves
- tomato - 1, sliced
Steps
- In a food processor, combine the shrimp, garlic, cilantro, lime juice, cumin, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Pulse until the mixture is finely chopped but not pureed.
- Transfer the shrimp mixture to a bowl and add the beaten egg and breadcrumbs. Mix until well combined.
- Form the mixture into two patties, pressing firmly to hold their shape.
- Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook the shrimp patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and cooked through.
- While the patties are cooking, prepare the spicy avocado sauce by mixing the mashed avocado with hot sauce to taste.
- To assemble the burgers, place a lettuce leaf on each burger bun, followed by the shrimp patty, a slice of tomato, and a generous dollop of spicy avocado sauce. Top with the other half of the bun.
- Serve immediately with your favorite side.
