Ingredients

  • Yuca - 300 grams
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Garlic powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Egg - 1 large
  • Cornstarch - 50 grams
  • Vegetable oil - for frying

Steps

  1. Peel the yuca and cut it into chunks. Boil in salted water for about 15 minutes or until tender.
  2. Drain the yuca and let it cool for a few minutes. Then, mash it in a bowl until smooth.
  3. Add salt, black pepper, garlic powder, chopped cilantro, and the egg to the mashed yuca. Mix well until all ingredients are combined.
  4. Gradually add cornstarch to the mixture until it holds together and is not too sticky.
  5. Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Once hot, form small patties from the yuca mixture and gently place them in the oil.
  6. Fry the patties for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  7. Serve warm with your choice of dipping sauce.
