Ingredients

  • Dried hibiscus flowers - 50 grams
  • Water - 1 liter
  • Sugar or agave syrup - 2 tablespoons (adjust to taste)
  • Lime juice - 2 tablespoons
  • Fresh mint leaves - a handful (for garnish)

Steps

  1. In a saucepan, bring 1 liter of water to a boil.
  2. Once boiling, add the dried hibiscus flowers and reduce the heat to a simmer.
  3. Let it simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. After 10 minutes, remove from heat and strain the liquid into a pitcher, discarding the hibiscus flowers.
  5. Add sugar or agave syrup and lime juice to the hibiscus infusion, stirring until fully dissolved.
  6. Let the drink cool to room temperature, then refrigerate until chilled.
  7. Serve the Bebida de Jamaica over ice, garnished with fresh mint leaves.
