Ingredients

  • Halal sausages - 4 pieces
  • All-purpose flour - 1 cup (120g)
  • Cornstarch - 2 tablespoons (30g)
  • Baking powder - 1 teaspoon (4g)
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon (3g)
  • Cayenne pepper - 1/4 teaspoon (1g)
  • Egg - 1 large
  • Milk - 1/2 cup (120ml)
  • Vegetable oil - for frying
  • Wooden skewers - 4 pieces
  • Ketchup - for serving
  • Hot sauce - for serving

Steps

  1. Preheat the vegetable oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, and cayenne pepper.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the egg and milk, then add this mixture to the dry ingredients, stirring until smooth.
  4. Insert a wooden skewer into each halal sausage, ensuring it goes through the center.
  5. Dip each skewered sausage into the batter, allowing any excess to drip off.
  6. Carefully place the battered sausages into the hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 4-5 minutes, turning occasionally.
  7. Once cooked, remove the banderillas from the oil and place them on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
  8. Serve hot with ketchup and hot sauce on the side.
