Ingredients

  • Nopales - 300 grams, cleaned and chopped
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Onion - 1 small, diced
  • Tomato - 1 medium, diced
  • Fresh cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Chili powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Feta cheese - 100 grams, crumbled
  • Lime juice - 1 tablespoon

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and minced garlic, sautéing until the onion is translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Add the chopped nopales to the skillet and cook for an additional 5-7 minutes, until they become tender.
  4. Stir in the diced tomato, cilantro, cumin, chili powder, salt, and black pepper. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the tomato softens.
  5. Transfer the nopales mixture into a baking dish and sprinkle the crumbled feta cheese evenly on top.
  6. Drizzle lime juice over the dish and bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, or until the cheese is slightly golden.
  7. Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
