Ingredients

  • Masa harina - 60 grams
  • Milk (or plant-based milk) - 500 ml
  • Dark chocolate (70% cocoa) - 30 grams
  • Sugar - 2 tablespoons
  • Cinnamon powder - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Vanilla extract - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Pinch of salt - 1

Steps

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the masa harina and 200 ml of milk, whisking until smooth to create a slurry.
  2. Add the remaining 300 ml of milk to the saucepan and place it over medium heat.
  3. While continuously whisking, bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.
  4. Add the dark chocolate, sugar, cinnamon, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt to the saucepan.
  5. Continue to whisk until the chocolate melts completely and the mixture thickens, about 5-7 minutes.
  6. Once thickened to your desired consistency, remove from heat and pour into mugs.
