Ingredients

  • Thin pastry sheets (Warka) - 5 sheets
  • Semolina - 50 grams
  • Milk - 200 milliliters
  • Sugar - 30 grams
  • Butter - 20 grams
  • Rose water - 1 tablespoon
  • Powdered sugar - for dusting
  • Vegetable oil - for frying

Steps

  1. In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat and add semolina, stirring constantly until it turns golden brown.
  2. Gradually add milk and sugar to the semolina mixture, stirring continuously until it thickens.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in rose water. Allow the mixture to cool slightly.
  4. Take a sheet of thin pastry and cut it into squares (approximately 10x10 cm).
  5. Place a tablespoon of the semolina filling at the center of each square, then fold the corners over to form a small packet.
  6. Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Fry the packets until they are golden brown on all sides, then remove and drain on paper towels.
  7. Drizzle with syrup or honey, and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
