Ingredients
- Thin pastry sheets (Warka) - 5 sheets
- Semolina - 50 grams
- Milk - 200 milliliters
- Sugar - 30 grams
- Butter - 20 grams
- Rose water - 1 tablespoon
- Powdered sugar - for dusting
- Vegetable oil - for frying
Steps
- In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat and add semolina, stirring constantly until it turns golden brown.
- Gradually add milk and sugar to the semolina mixture, stirring continuously until it thickens.
- Remove from heat and stir in rose water. Allow the mixture to cool slightly.
- Take a sheet of thin pastry and cut it into squares (approximately 10x10 cm).
- Place a tablespoon of the semolina filling at the center of each square, then fold the corners over to form a small packet.
- Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Fry the packets until they are golden brown on all sides, then remove and drain on paper towels.
- Drizzle with syrup or honey, and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
