Ingredients
- All-purpose flour - 200 grams
- Warm water - 120 ml
- Active dry yeast - 5 grams
- Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Zaatar spice mix - 2 tablespoons
- Olive oil (for drizzling) - 2 tablespoons
- Tomato (sliced) - 1 medium
- Red onion (thinly sliced) - 1/2 medium
- Bell pepper (sliced) - 1/2 medium
- Fresh parsley (chopped) - 2 tablespoons
Steps
- In a small bowl, dissolve the active dry yeast in warm water and let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt. Make a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil.
- Mix the ingredients until a dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 20 minutes or until doubled in size.
- Preheat your oven to 220°C (425°F).
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface to your desired thickness (around 1/2 cm).
- Transfer the rolled-out dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- In a small bowl, mix the zaatar spice with 2 tablespoons of olive oil to create a paste. Spread this mixture evenly over the dough.
- Arrange the sliced tomatoes, red onion, and bell pepper on top of the zaatar spread.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and sprinkle with fresh parsley before slicing and serving.
