Ingredients

  • All-purpose flour - 100 grams
  • Granulated sugar - 50 grams
  • Butter - 50 grams, softened
  • Baking powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Za'atar spice mix - 1 tablespoon
  • Egg - 1 large
  • Vanilla extract - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Milk - 2 tablespoons

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the egg and vanilla extract to the mixture, and beat until well combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, and za'atar spice mix.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Stir in the milk to achieve a smooth dough consistency.
  7. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 5 cm apart.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  9. Remove from the oven and allow to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
