Ingredients
- All-purpose flour - 200 grams
- Warm water - 120 ml
- Active dry yeast - 5 grams
- Salt - 5 grams
- Olive oil - 15 ml
- Zaatar spice mix - 30 grams
- Additional olive oil for brushing - 10 ml
Steps
- In a small bowl, mix warm water and active dry yeast, then let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and olive oil.
- Mix until a dough forms, then knead on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise for about 15 minutes in a warm place until doubled in size.
- Preheat your oven to 220°C (428°F).
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into two equal portions. Roll each portion into a flat disc, about 1 cm thick.
- Brush each disc with olive oil and sprinkle generously with the zaatar spice mix, pressing it lightly into the dough.
- Place the discs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for about 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
