Ingredients

  • Chickpeas - 200 grams (cooked)
  • Seaweed flakes - 2 tablespoons
  • Red onion - 1 small, finely chopped
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Fresh dill - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Ground cumin - 1 teaspoon
  • Paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Chickpea flour - 3 tablespoons
  • Olive oil - for frying

Steps

  1. In a large bowl, mash the cooked chickpeas with a fork until mostly smooth, leaving some chunks for texture.
  2. Add the seaweed flakes, chopped red onion, minced garlic, parsley, dill, cumin, paprika, salt, and black pepper to the mashed chickpeas. Mix well to combine.
  3. Gradually add the chickpea flour to the mixture, stirring until it binds together. If the mixture is too wet, add a little more flour.
  4. Form the mixture into small oval-shaped koftas, about 2 inches long.
  5. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Once hot, carefully place the koftas in the skillet, cooking them for about 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
  6. Once cooked, transfer the koftas to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  7. Serve warm with tahini sauce or a fresh salad.
