Ingredients
- Dried fava beans - 200 grams
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Ground cumin - 1 teaspoon
- Chili powder - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
- Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Red chili flakes - 1/2 teaspoon (optional for extra heat)
Steps
- Soak the dried fava beans in plenty of water for at least 8 hours or overnight.
- Drain and rinse the fava beans, then place them in a pot and cover with fresh water. Bring to a boil and simmer for about 30-40 minutes, or until tender.
- Once cooked, drain the beans and let them cool slightly.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Stir in the cooked fava beans, ground cumin, chili powder, salt, black pepper, and red chili flakes (if using). Cook for an additional 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally to allow the spices to coat the beans evenly.
- Remove from heat and drizzle with lemon juice. Toss in the chopped parsley.
- Serve warm or at room temperature as a snack or appetizer.
