Ingredients
- Brown lentils - 100 grams
- Onion - 1 small, finely chopped
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Carrot - 1 medium, grated
- Cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
- Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
- Paprika - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- All-purpose flour - 2 tablespoons
- Olive oil - for frying
Steps
- Rinse the brown lentils under cold water, then place them in a saucepan with 250ml of water. Bring to a boil and simmer for about 15-20 minutes until tender. Drain and let cool.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooled lentils, chopped onion, minced garlic, grated carrot, and chopped cilantro.
- Add the cumin powder, coriander powder, paprika, salt, black pepper, and all-purpose flour to the bowl. Mix until well combined, then mash slightly with a fork to form a cohesive mixture.
- Form the mixture into small patties, about the size of a golf ball, and flatten them slightly.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the patties in batches, cooking for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the patties from the skillet and place them on a paper towel to absorb excess oil. Serve warm with tahini sauce or yogurt dip.
