Ingredients

  • Canned chickpeas - 400 grams
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ground cumin - 1 teaspoon
  • Ground coriander - 1 teaspoon
  • Paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Ground turmeric - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Lemon - 1, juiced
  • Pita bread - 2 pieces, for serving

Steps

  1. Drain and rinse the canned chickpeas under cold water to remove excess sodium.
  2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
  3. Add the minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
  4. Stir in the chickpeas and cook for 3-4 minutes until heated through.
  5. Sprinkle the ground cumin, ground coriander, paprika, turmeric, salt, and black pepper over the chickpeas. Stir well to coat.
  6. Cook for an additional 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the chickpeas are slightly crispy and golden.
  7. Remove from heat and squeeze fresh lemon juice over the chickpeas. Toss in the chopped parsley.
  8. Serve warm with pita bread on the side.
