- Lamb shoulder, diced - 300 grams
- Onion, finely chopped - 1 medium (150 grams)
- Garlic, minced - 3 cloves
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Ground cumin - 1 teaspoon
- Ground coriander - 1 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - to taste
- Black pepper - to taste
- Water - 1 liter
- Plain Greek yogurt - 150 grams
- Fresh mint leaves, chopped - 2 tablespoons
- Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
Steps
- In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Add the minced garlic and lamb pieces to the pot, cooking until the meat is browned on all sides, about 8-10 minutes.
- Stir in the ground cumin, coriander, turmeric, salt, and black pepper. Cook for an additional 2 minutes to toast the spices.
- Pour in the water and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 30 minutes, or until the lamb is tender.
- Once the lamb is cooked, remove the pot from heat and let it cool slightly. Stir in the Greek yogurt until well combined.
- Add the chopped mint leaves and lemon juice, mixing thoroughly. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper if needed.
- Serve hot, garnished with extra mint leaves if desired.
