Ingredients

  • Ground beef - 300 grams
  • Shawarma spice mix - 2 teaspoons
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Pita bread - 2 pieces (for buns)
  • Tahini - 2 tablespoons
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Cucumber - 1/2, diced
  • Tomato - 1 medium, diced
  • Red onion - 1/4, thinly sliced
  • Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Pickles - 4 slices

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, shawarma spice mix, salt, black pepper, and minced garlic. Mix until well combined.
  2. Form the mixture into two equal-sized patties, about 1.5 cm thick.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the patties and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until fully cooked to your desired doneness.
  4. While the patties are cooking, prepare the garlic tahini sauce by whisking together tahini, lemon juice, and a pinch of salt in a small bowl until smooth.
  5. Toast the pita bread lightly in a separate pan or oven until warm.
  6. Assemble the burgers by placing a beef patty on each pita bread. Top with diced cucumber, tomato, red onion, chopped parsley, and pickles.
  7. Drizzle the garlic tahini sauce generously over the toppings, fold the pita around the filling, and serve immediately.
