Ingredients

  • Ground lamb or beef - 250 grams
  • Onion, finely chopped - 1 medium (about 150 grams)
  • Garlic, minced - 2 cloves
  • Pine nuts - 30 grams
  • Flat-leaf parsley, chopped - 1/4 cup
  • Tomato, diced - 1 medium (about 100 grams)
  • Cinnamon powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Allspice powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Pita bread - 2 pieces (about 100 grams each)
  • Greek yogurt - 100 grams (for serving)

Steps

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, add olive oil and sauté the chopped onions until translucent, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
  4. Stir in the ground meat and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon, about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Add pine nuts, diced tomato, cinnamon, allspice, salt, and black pepper. Cook for another 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Remove from heat and stir in the chopped parsley.
  7. On a baking tray, place the pita bread and divide the meat mixture evenly on top of each piece.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for about 10-15 minutes, or until the edges of the pita are crispy.
  9. Serve hot, topped with a dollop of Greek yogurt.
