Ingredients
- Ground lamb or beef - 250 grams
- Onion, finely chopped - 1 medium (about 150 grams)
- Garlic, minced - 2 cloves
- Pine nuts - 30 grams
- Flat-leaf parsley, chopped - 1/4 cup
- Tomato, diced - 1 medium (about 100 grams)
- Cinnamon powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Allspice powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
- Pita bread - 2 pieces (about 100 grams each)
- Greek yogurt - 100 grams (for serving)
Steps
- Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).
- In a skillet over medium heat, add olive oil and sauté the chopped onions until translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Add minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
- Stir in the ground meat and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon, about 5-7 minutes.
- Add pine nuts, diced tomato, cinnamon, allspice, salt, and black pepper. Cook for another 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Remove from heat and stir in the chopped parsley.
- On a baking tray, place the pita bread and divide the meat mixture evenly on top of each piece.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 10-15 minutes, or until the edges of the pita are crispy.
- Serve hot, topped with a dollop of Greek yogurt.
