Ingredients

  • Milk - 500 ml
  • Sahlab powder (or cornstarch as a substitute) - 2 tablespoons
  • Sugar - 3 tablespoons
  • Rose water - 1 teaspoon
  • Ground cinnamon - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Chopped pistachios - 2 tablespoons
  • Coconut flakes (unsweetened) - 1 tablespoon
  • Water - 50 ml

Steps

  1. In a small bowl, mix the Sahlab powder with 50 ml of water to create a smooth paste. Set aside.
  2. In a saucepan, heat the milk over medium heat until it is warm but not boiling.
  3. Add the sugar to the warm milk and stir until dissolved.
  4. Gradually add the Sahlab paste to the milk while continuously stirring to avoid lumps.
  5. Continue to cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens (about 5-7 minutes).
  6. Once thickened, remove from heat and stir in the rose water.
  7. Pour the Sahlab into serving bowls and let it cool slightly.
  8. Sprinkle with ground cinnamon, chopped pistachios, and coconut flakes before serving.
