- Milk - 500 ml
- Sahlab powder (or cornstarch as a substitute) - 2 tablespoons
- Sugar - 3 tablespoons
- Rose water - 1 teaspoon
- Ground cinnamon - 1/2 teaspoon
- Chopped pistachios - 2 tablespoons
- Coconut flakes (unsweetened) - 1 tablespoon
- Water - 50 ml
Steps
- In a small bowl, mix the Sahlab powder with 50 ml of water to create a smooth paste. Set aside.
- In a saucepan, heat the milk over medium heat until it is warm but not boiling.
- Add the sugar to the warm milk and stir until dissolved.
- Gradually add the Sahlab paste to the milk while continuously stirring to avoid lumps.
- Continue to cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens (about 5-7 minutes).
- Once thickened, remove from heat and stir in the rose water.
- Pour the Sahlab into serving bowls and let it cool slightly.
- Sprinkle with ground cinnamon, chopped pistachios, and coconut flakes before serving.
