- Basmati rice - 150 grams
- Chicken breast - 200 grams, diced
- Green lentils - 100 grams
- Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Cinnamon - 1/2 teaspoon
- Allspice - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - to taste
- Black pepper - to taste
- Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Water - 500 milliliters
Steps
- Rinse the basmati rice and soak it in water for 30 minutes, then drain.
- In a pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat and sauté the chopped onion until translucent.
- Add the minced garlic and diced chicken breast to the pot, cooking until the chicken is browned.
- Stir in the green lentils, cinnamon, allspice, salt, and black pepper, mixing well.
- Add 500 milliliters of water to the pot, bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes.
- Add the soaked basmati rice to the pot, stir gently, and cover. Cook for an additional 15-20 minutes until the rice is fluffy and the lentils are tender.
- Once cooked, remove from heat and let it sit covered for 5 minutes.
- Fluff the rice with a fork, garnish with fresh parsley, and serve hot.
