Ingredients

  • Basmati rice - 150 grams
  • Chicken breast - 200 grams, diced
  • Green lentils - 100 grams
  • Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Cinnamon - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Allspice - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste
  • Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Water - 500 milliliters

Steps

  1. Rinse the basmati rice and soak it in water for 30 minutes, then drain.
  2. In a pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat and sauté the chopped onion until translucent.
  3. Add the minced garlic and diced chicken breast to the pot, cooking until the chicken is browned.
  4. Stir in the green lentils, cinnamon, allspice, salt, and black pepper, mixing well.
  5. Add 500 milliliters of water to the pot, bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes.
  6. Add the soaked basmati rice to the pot, stir gently, and cover. Cook for an additional 15-20 minutes until the rice is fluffy and the lentils are tender.
  7. Once cooked, remove from heat and let it sit covered for 5 minutes.
  8. Fluff the rice with a fork, garnish with fresh parsley, and serve hot.
