Ingredients

  • Whole grain pasta - 150 grams
  • Ground beef (lean) - 200 grams
  • Onion (finely chopped) - 1 medium (about 150 grams)
  • Garlic (minced) - 2 cloves
  • Pine nuts - 30 grams
  • Walnuts (chopped) - 30 grams
  • Cinnamon powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Allspice - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Fresh parsley (chopped) - 2 tablespoons
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Water - 1 liter

Steps

  1. Bring 1 liter of water to a boil in a large pot. Add a pinch of salt and the whole grain pasta. Cook according to package instructions until al dente, then drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add the minced garlic to the skillet and cook for another minute until fragrant, then add the ground beef.
  4. Season the beef with cinnamon, allspice, salt, and black pepper. Cook, breaking it apart with a spoon, until browned and cooked through, about 8-10 minutes.
  5. In a separate pan, toast the pine nuts and chopped walnuts over low heat for 3-4 minutes until golden and fragrant, stirring frequently to prevent burning.
  6. Combine the cooked pasta with the beef mixture in the skillet, adding the toasted nuts, chopped parsley, and lemon juice. Toss everything together gently to combine.
  7. Drizzle with the remaining tablespoon of olive oil and adjust seasoning if needed. Serve warm.
