- Salt - to taste
- Black pepper - to taste
- Water - 100 milliliters
Steps
- Rinse the mussels under cold water, scrubbing the shells to remove any dirt or debris. Discard any mussels that are open and do not close when tapped.
- In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
- Add the rinsed mussels to the pot along with water, lemon juice, red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper. Stir to combine.
- Cover the pot and cook for 5-7 minutes, shaking occasionally, until the mussels have opened up.
- Remove from heat, stir in the chopped parsley, and adjust seasoning if necessary.
