Ingredients
- Roasted red bell peppers - 200 grams
- Walnuts - 100 grams
- Garlic - 1 clove
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
- Ground cumin - 1 teaspoon
- Paprika - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Pomegranate seeds - 2 tablespoons (for garnish)
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
- Place the walnuts on a baking tray and roast them in the oven for about 10 minutes, or until golden and fragrant. Allow them to cool.
- While the walnuts are roasting, char the red bell peppers over an open flame or under the broiler until the skin is blackened and blistered. Place them in a bowl and cover with plastic wrap to steam for about 10 minutes.
- Once the peppers are cool, peel off the skin, remove the seeds, and chop them coarsely.
- In a food processor, combine the roasted walnuts, garlic, olive oil, lemon juice, ground cumin, paprika, salt, and the chopped roasted red peppers.
- Blend until smooth, adjusting the consistency with a little water if necessary.
- Transfer the Muhammara to a serving bowl and garnish with chopped parsley and pomegranate seeds.
- Serve immediately with pita bread or as a side salad.
