Ingredients
- Roasted red bell peppers - 150 grams
- Walnuts - 50 grams
- Garlic - 1 clove
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Pomegranate molasses - 1 tablespoon
- Ground cumin - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Cayenne pepper - 1/4 teaspoon (adjust to taste)
- Fresh lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
- Water - 2 tablespoons
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
- If not using pre-roasted peppers, roast the red bell peppers on a baking sheet for 20-25 minutes until the skin is charred and blistered. Let them cool, then peel off the skin and remove the seeds.
- In a food processor, combine the roasted red peppers, walnuts, garlic, olive oil, pomegranate molasses, ground cumin, salt, cayenne pepper, lemon juice, and water.
- Blend the mixture until smooth, scraping down the sides as needed. Adjust the consistency by adding more water if desired.
- Taste and adjust seasoning, adding more salt or cayenne pepper if necessary.
- Transfer the Mouhamara to a serving bowl and drizzle a little olive oil on top before serving.
