Ingredients

  • Chicken breast - 300 grams
  • Yogurt - 100 grams
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Rosewater - 1 tablespoon
  • Milk - 500 ml
  • Cornstarch - 40 grams
  • Sugar - 50 grams
  • Pistachios - 30 grams, chopped
  • Mint leaves - for garnish

Steps

  1. In a bowl, mix yogurt, minced garlic, cumin, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Add the chicken breasts and marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  2. While the chicken marinates, prepare the mouhalabieh. In a saucepan, combine milk, sugar, and cornstarch. Stir well over medium heat until the mixture thickens.
  3. Once thickened, remove from heat and stir in rosewater. Pour the mixture into serving bowls and refrigerate until set, about 15-20 minutes.
  4. Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Grill the marinated chicken for about 6-7 minutes on each side, or until fully cooked and no longer pink in the center.
  5. Once cooked, slice the chicken and serve it over the chilled mouhalabieh. Garnish with chopped pistachios and mint leaves.
