Ingredients

  • Ground beef - 300 grams
  • Onion, finely chopped - 1 small (about 70 grams)
  • Garlic, minced - 2 cloves
  • Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Fresh mint leaves, chopped - 2 tablespoons
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon (for cooking)
  • Plain yogurt - 150 grams
  • Fresh mint leaves, whole - for garnish
  • Lettuce leaves - 2
  • Pita bread or burger buns - 2

Steps

  1. In a bowl, combine ground beef, chopped onion, minced garlic, cumin powder, salt, black pepper, and chopped mint leaves. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  2. Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape them into patties.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the patties and cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side or until they are cooked through and have a nice brown crust.
  4. While the patties are cooking, prepare the minted yogurt sauce by mixing plain yogurt with finely chopped mint leaves and a pinch of salt in a small bowl.
  5. Once the patties are cooked, remove them from the skillet. To assemble, place each patty on a piece of pita bread or inside a burger bun, top with lettuce leaves, and generously drizzle with the minted yogurt sauce.
  6. Garnish with whole mint leaves and serve immediately.
