Ingredients
- all-purpose flour - 250 grams
- water - 120 ml
- olive oil - 30 ml
- instant yeast - 5 grams
- salt - 5 grams
- ground beef - 200 grams
- onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
- garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- ground cumin - 1 teaspoon
- ground cinnamon - 1/2 teaspoon
- fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- pine nuts - 30 grams, toasted (optional)
- egg - 1, beaten (for brushing)
Steps
- In a bowl, combine the flour, yeast, salt, olive oil, and water. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth. Cover and let it rise in a warm place for 30 minutes.
- While the dough is rising, heat a skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and garlic, sauté until translucent.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart. Cook until browned, then stir in cumin, cinnamon, black pepper, and parsley. Cook for another 2-3 minutes. If using, add toasted pine nuts, then remove from heat and let cool.
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
- Once the dough has risen, divide it into 6 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a circle about 10 cm in diameter.
- Place a spoonful of the meat mixture in the center of each circle, then fold the edges over to form a triangle, pinching to seal.
- Place the fatayer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the tops with beaten egg.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
- Serve warm or at room temperature.
