Ingredients
- All-purpose flour - 200 grams
- Warm water - 120 ml
- Active dry yeast - 5 grams
- Sugar - 5 grams
- Salt - 4 grams
- Olive oil - 15 ml
- Zaatar spice blend - 30 grams
- Additional olive oil for topping - 30 ml
Steps
- In a small bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 10 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Make a well in the center, and pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil.
- Mix until a dough forms, then knead on a lightly floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes, or until doubled in size.
- Preheat your oven to 220°C (428°F). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into two equal pieces. Roll each piece into a circle about 10 inches in diameter.
- In a small bowl, mix zaatar spice blend with the additional olive oil to create a paste.
- Spread the zaatar mixture evenly over each rolled-out dough circle.
- Transfer the topped dough onto the prepared baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
- Remove from the oven, allow to cool slightly, and serve warm.
