Makanek are delicious Lebanese sausages made from spiced ground meat, often enjoyed grilled or pan-fried. This flavorful dish is perfect for a hearty lunch, served with fresh pita and a side of tangy pickles.

Ingredients
- Ground lamb - 250 grams
- Ground beef - 250 grams
- Onion - 1 small, finely chopped
- Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
- Pine nuts - 30 grams, toasted
- Allspice - 1 teaspoon
- Cinnamon - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Paprika - 1 teaspoon
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Pita bread - 2 pieces, for serving
- Pickles - for serving
Steps
- In a large bowl, combine the ground lamb and beef, mixing well.
- Add the finely chopped onion, minced garlic, toasted pine nuts, allspice, cinnamon, salt, black pepper, and paprika to the meat mixture. Mix until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
- Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
- After marinating, shape the meat mixture into small sausages, approximately 10 cm long.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the sausages in batches, cooking for about 5-7 minutes on each side or until browned and cooked through.
- Remove from the skillet and let them rest for a few minutes before serving.
- Serve the Makanek with warm pita bread and pickles, garnished with fresh parsley.
