Ingredients

  • Ground lamb - 250 grams
  • Ground beef - 250 grams
  • Onion - 1 small, finely chopped
  • Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
  • Pine nuts - 30 grams, toasted
  • Allspice - 1 teaspoon
  • Cinnamon - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Pita bread - 2 pieces, for serving
  • Pickles - for serving

Steps

  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground lamb and beef, mixing well.
  2. Add the finely chopped onion, minced garlic, toasted pine nuts, allspice, cinnamon, salt, black pepper, and paprika to the meat mixture. Mix until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  3. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  4. After marinating, shape the meat mixture into small sausages, approximately 10 cm long.
  5. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the sausages in batches, cooking for about 5-7 minutes on each side or until browned and cooked through.
  6. Remove from the skillet and let them rest for a few minutes before serving.
  7. Serve the Makanek with warm pita bread and pickles, garnished with fresh parsley.
