Ingredients

  • All-purpose flour - 200 grams
  • Active dry yeast - 5 grams
  • Warm water - 120 ml
  • Olive oil - 30 ml
  • Salt - 5 grams
  • Ground beef - 200 grams
  • Onion, finely chopped - 1 medium (about 100 grams)
  • Pine nuts - 30 grams
  • Ground cinnamon - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Allspice - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Fresh parsley, chopped - 2 tablespoons
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon

Steps

  1. In a bowl, combine warm water and yeast, and let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil, and knead until a smooth dough forms. Cover and let it rise for 30 minutes.
  3. In a skillet over medium heat, sauté the chopped onion until translucent. Add the ground beef, cooking until browned and fully cooked.
  4. Stir in pine nuts, cinnamon, allspice, salt, black pepper, parsley, and lemon juice. Mix well and remove from heat. Let the filling cool slightly.
  5. Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
  6. Once the dough has risen, divide it into 6 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a circle about 10 cm in diameter.
  7. Place a tablespoon of the meat filling in the center of each circle. Fold over and seal the edges by pressing them together or crimping with a fork.
  8. Place the pies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
  9. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
