Ingredients
- Ground lamb - 300 grams
- Onion - 1 small, finely chopped
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Fresh mint - 1 tablespoon, chopped
- Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
- Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
- Paprika - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Egg - 1, beaten
- Whole wheat pita bread - 2 pieces
- Greek yogurt - 100 grams
- Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
- Cucumber - 1/2, diced
- Tomato - 1, sliced
- Red onion - 1/4, thinly sliced
Steps
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground lamb, chopped onion, minced garlic, parsley, mint, cumin, coriander, paprika, salt, black pepper, and beaten egg.
- Mix the ingredients thoroughly until well combined, then form the mixture into two patties.
- Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat and cook the patties for about 5-6 minutes on each side until browned and cooked through.
- While the patties are cooking, prepare the yogurt sauce by mixing the Greek yogurt with lemon juice, and season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Warm the whole wheat pita bread on the grill or in a pan for about 1 minute on each side.
- Assemble the burgers by placing a patty inside each pita, topped with diced cucumber, sliced tomato, and thinly sliced red onion.
- Drizzle the yogurt sauce over the top and serve immediately.
