Ingredients

  • Ground lamb - 300 grams
  • Onion - 1 small, finely chopped
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Fresh mint - 1 tablespoon, chopped
  • Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Egg - 1, beaten
  • Whole wheat pita bread - 2 pieces
  • Greek yogurt - 100 grams
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Cucumber - 1/2, diced
  • Tomato - 1, sliced
  • Red onion - 1/4, thinly sliced

Steps

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground lamb, chopped onion, minced garlic, parsley, mint, cumin, coriander, paprika, salt, black pepper, and beaten egg.
  2. Mix the ingredients thoroughly until well combined, then form the mixture into two patties.
  3. Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat and cook the patties for about 5-6 minutes on each side until browned and cooked through.
  4. While the patties are cooking, prepare the yogurt sauce by mixing the Greek yogurt with lemon juice, and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Warm the whole wheat pita bread on the grill or in a pan for about 1 minute on each side.
  6. Assemble the burgers by placing a patty inside each pita, topped with diced cucumber, sliced tomato, and thinly sliced red onion.
  7. Drizzle the yogurt sauce over the top and serve immediately.
