Ingredients

  • Ground lamb - 250 grams
  • Ground beef - 250 grams
  • Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Fresh parsley - 30 grams, finely chopped
  • Tomato paste - 2 tablespoons
  • Pine nuts - 30 grams, toasted
  • Allspice - 1 teaspoon
  • Cinnamon - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Pita bread or Lebanese flatbread - 2 pieces
  • Lemon wedges - for serving

Steps

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground lamb, ground beef, chopped onion, minced garlic, parsley, tomato paste, pine nuts, allspice, cinnamon, salt, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly until well combined.
  2. Cover the mixture and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  3. Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  4. Divide the meat mixture into 2 equal portions and shape each portion into a patty about 1 cm thick.
  5. Place the patties on the prepared baking sheet and brush lightly with olive oil.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until the patties are cooked through and slightly browned.
  7. Meanwhile, warm the pita bread or flatbreads in a pan or oven.
  8. Once the patties are done, place each patty inside a warm pita or flatbread, and serve with lemon wedges on the side.
