Ingredients

  • Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Red pepper flakes - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Lemon - 1, for serving
  • Fresh vegetables (like lettuce, tomatoes, and cucumbers) - for serving

Steps

  1. In a small bowl, dissolve the active dry yeast in warm water and let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and olive oil.
  3. Mix until a dough forms, then knead on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 30 minutes or until doubled in size.
  5. While the dough rises, prepare the topping by mixing the ground meat, chopped onion, minced garlic, tomato paste, parsley, paprika, cumin, black pepper, and red pepper flakes in a bowl until well combined.
  6. Preheat the oven to 220°C (428°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  7. Once the dough has risen, divide it into two equal portions and roll each portion into a thin circle on a floured surface.
  8. Transfer the rolled dough to the prepared baking sheet and spread an even layer of the meat mixture over each crust, leaving a small border around the edge.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden and the meat is cooked through.
  10. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly. Serve with fresh vegetables and lemon wedges.
