- Tomato paste - 2 tablespoons
- Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Paprika - 1 teaspoon
- Cumin - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Red pepper flakes - 1/4 teaspoon
- Lemon - 1, for serving
- Fresh vegetables (like lettuce, tomatoes, and cucumbers) - for serving
Steps
- In a small bowl, dissolve the active dry yeast in warm water and let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and olive oil.
- Mix until a dough forms, then knead on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 30 minutes or until doubled in size.
- While the dough rises, prepare the topping by mixing the ground meat, chopped onion, minced garlic, tomato paste, parsley, paprika, cumin, black pepper, and red pepper flakes in a bowl until well combined.
- Preheat the oven to 220°C (428°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Once the dough has risen, divide it into two equal portions and roll each portion into a thin circle on a floured surface.
- Transfer the rolled dough to the prepared baking sheet and spread an even layer of the meat mixture over each crust, leaving a small border around the edge.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden and the meat is cooked through.
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly. Serve with fresh vegetables and lemon wedges.
