Labneh Balls are a delightful Lebanese snack made from strained yogurt, rolled into bite-sized balls and marinated in olive oil and spices. These protein-packed treats are perfect for a light appetizer or a healthy addition to any meal.

Ingredients

  • Labneh - 200 grams
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Dried mint - 1 teaspoon
  • Zaatar - 1 teaspoon
  • Olive oil - 3 tablespoons
  • Chili flakes - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Pine nuts - 30 grams (toasted)
  • Fresh parsley - 1 tablespoon (chopped, for garnish)

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the labneh and salt, mixing well until smooth.
  2. Using your hands, form the labneh mixture into small balls, about 2.5 cm in diameter.
  3. In a small bowl, mix the dried mint, zaatar, and chili flakes together.
  4. In a shallow dish, drizzle a layer of olive oil and sprinkle half of the spice mixture over it.
  5. Carefully place the labneh balls in the dish, then drizzle with more olive oil and sprinkle the remaining spice mixture over the top.
  6. Cover the dish with plastic wrap and let it marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour to allow the flavors to meld.
  7. Before serving, garnish with toasted pine nuts and chopped fresh parsley.
