Ingredients

  • Greek yogurt - 500 grams
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Dried mint - 1 teaspoon
  • Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Pita bread - 2 pieces, for serving
  • Vegetables (cucumbers, carrots) - for serving

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the Greek yogurt and salt. Mix well until the salt is fully dissolved.
  2. Line a fine mesh strainer with cheesecloth or a clean kitchen towel and set it over a bowl to catch the whey.
  3. Pour the salted yogurt into the lined strainer and fold the cheesecloth over the top to cover the yogurt.
  4. Allow the yogurt to drain in the refrigerator for at least 12 hours, preferably 24 hours, to achieve a thick consistency.
  5. Once drained, transfer the labneh to a serving dish. Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with dried mint and chopped parsley.
  6. Serve with pita bread and fresh vegetables for dipping.
