Ingredients

  • Chicken breast - 300 grams
  • Plain yogurt - 200 grams
  • Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Onion - 1 medium, chopped
  • Rice (long-grain) - 150 grams
  • Water - 300 milliliters
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Ground cumin - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped (for garnish)

Steps

  1. In a bowl, mix the yogurt, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, and ground cumin. Add the chicken breast pieces and marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add the marinated chicken to the skillet and cook until browned on all sides, about 7-10 minutes.
  4. Pour in the remaining marinade and reduce the heat to low. Cover and simmer for 15 minutes, allowing the chicken to cook through and the sauce to thicken.
  5. While the chicken is cooking, rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear. In a pot, combine the rinsed rice and water with a pinch of salt and bring to a boil.
  6. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover, and cook for 15 minutes or until the rice is tender and water is absorbed.
  7. Serve the chicken with the yogurt sauce over the rice, garnished with chopped parsley.
