Ingredients

  • Ground lamb or beef - 250 grams
  • Onion, finely chopped - 1 small (about 50 grams)
  • Garlic cloves, minced - 2
  • Fresh parsley, chopped - 2 tablespoons
  • Ground cumin - 1 teaspoon
  • Ground cinnamon - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Tahini - 100 grams
  • Water - 100 ml
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Pine nuts, toasted - 2 tablespoons
  • Fresh parsley, for garnish - a few sprigs

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground meat, chopped onion, minced garlic, parsley, cumin, cinnamon, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are fully incorporated.
  2. Shape the mixture into small balls, about the size of a golf ball, and set aside.
  3. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the kofta balls and cook until browned on all sides, about 8-10 minutes. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, reduce the heat and add tahini, water, and lemon juice. Stir well to create a smooth sauce. Allow it to simmer for 5 minutes until slightly thickened.
  5. Return the kofta to the skillet, spooning the tahini sauce over them. Cook for an additional 5 minutes to heat through.
  6. Serve the kofta in a bowl topped with toasted pine nuts and garnished with fresh parsley.
