Ingredients
- Ground lamb or beef - 250 grams
- Onion, finely chopped - 1 small (about 50 grams)
- Garlic cloves, minced - 2
- Fresh parsley, chopped - 2 tablespoons
- Ground cumin - 1 teaspoon
- Ground cinnamon - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Tahini - 100 grams
- Water - 100 ml
- Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
- Pine nuts, toasted - 2 tablespoons
- Fresh parsley, for garnish - a few sprigs
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine the ground meat, chopped onion, minced garlic, parsley, cumin, cinnamon, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are fully incorporated.
- Shape the mixture into small balls, about the size of a golf ball, and set aside.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the kofta balls and cook until browned on all sides, about 8-10 minutes. Remove from skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, reduce the heat and add tahini, water, and lemon juice. Stir well to create a smooth sauce. Allow it to simmer for 5 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Return the kofta to the skillet, spooning the tahini sauce over them. Cook for an additional 5 minutes to heat through.
- Serve the kofta in a bowl topped with toasted pine nuts and garnished with fresh parsley.
