Ingredients

  • Semolina - 100 grams
  • All-purpose flour - 50 grams
  • Baking powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Sugar - 50 grams
  • Water - 150 ml
  • Rose water - 1 tablespoon
  • Cardamom powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Vegetable oil - for frying
  • Milk - 250 ml
  • Additional sugar for syrup - 50 grams

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine semolina, all-purpose flour, baking powder, and 50 grams of sugar.
  2. Gradually add 150 ml of water, rose water, and cardamom powder to the dry ingredients, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  3. Let the dough rest for 10 minutes, then shape it into small oval or round dumplings.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan over medium heat, and fry the dumplings until golden brown on all sides. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  5. In a saucepan, combine 250 ml of milk and 50 grams of sugar, heating gently until the sugar dissolves. Do not boil.
  6. Once the milk syrup is ready, add the fried dumplings to the syrup and let them soak for about 5-10 minutes.
  7. Serve warm, drizzled with additional milk syrup and garnished with crushed nuts or a sprinkle of cardamom if desired.
