Ingredients
- Fine semolina - 100 grams
- Unsalted butter - 50 grams, melted
- Water - 200 ml
- Sugar - 50 grams
- Rose water - 1 tablespoon
- Pistachios - 30 grams, chopped
- Ricotta cheese - 100 grams
- Sugar - 30 grams (for filling)
- Milk - 100 ml
- Cardamom powder - 1/4 teaspoon
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- In a bowl, combine fine semolina and melted butter until well mixed. Spread the mixture evenly in a greased baking dish, pressing it down firmly.
- In a separate bowl, mix ricotta cheese, 30 grams of sugar, milk, and cardamom powder until smooth. Spread this filling over the semolina layer.
- Top with another layer of the semolina mixture, pressing down gently. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes or until golden brown.
- While baking, prepare the syrup by combining water, 50 grams of sugar, and rose water in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, then simmer for 10 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Once the Knafeh is done baking, remove it from the oven and immediately drizzle with the rose water syrup. Let it sit for 5 minutes.
- Garnish with chopped pistachios before serving.
