Ingredients
- Knafeh dough - 100 grams
- Low-fat ricotta cheese - 100 grams
- Greek yogurt - 50 grams
- Sugar - 50 grams
- Water - 100 ml
- Unsalted butter - 25 grams
- Cardamom powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Vanilla extract - 1/2 teaspoon
- Chopped pistachios - 20 grams
- Dark chocolate (70% cocoa) - 20 grams
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- In a saucepan, combine sugar and water, and bring to a boil to make a simple syrup, then let it simmer for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and add vanilla extract.
- In a bowl, mix the ricotta cheese with Greek yogurt and cardamom powder until smooth.
- Melt the butter in a frying pan over medium heat. Add the shredded Knafeh dough and stir for about 5 minutes until it becomes golden and crispy.
- In a greased baking dish, layer half of the crispy Knafeh dough at the bottom, followed by the cheese mixture, and then top with the remaining Knafeh dough.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes until golden brown.
- Once baked, remove from the oven and pour the prepared syrup over the hot Knafeh. Let it absorb for 5 minutes.
- Melt the dark chocolate and drizzle it over the Knafeh, then sprinkle with chopped pistachios before serving.
